The Ultratrail Collserola (UTC) is defined by its organizers as the most metropolitan trail running ultra. In fact, it surprises that altough this long distance mountain race can be accessed by subway in Barcelona and that the route is all the surrounded by a big city… however a nice route with sea and city views consisting mostly of trails. Furthermore, the distance and the elevation gain makes it a perfect match for beginning runners in ultra trail running.
The second edition of Ultratrail Collserola, 80 kilometers and + 2700 meters elevation gain, will also qualify for UTMB®. All runners that finish the 80 kilometres of the UTC will have two points in oder to take part in the The North Face® Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® 2015.
The route, that goes around Barcelona’s Collserola Park has the following distribution of kilometers:
- Ultratrail Collserola (80 kilometers): 9% paved, 39% unpaved track and 52% single-track trail.
The other two races that complete this Barcelona’s trail running event: La Mitja Volta and La Popular have the following kilometers distribution:
- Mitja Volta (45 kilometers): 15% paved, 41% unpaved track and 44% single-track trail.
- La Popular (23 kilometers): 18% paved, 29% unpaved track and 53% single-track trail.
